I Like This & That - Podcast Edition!

In January of 2017 I listened to my first ever Podcast. Since then, I have probably gone a little overboard because I love them so much! Here are my top 5 favorites:

1. The Glorious in the Mundane with Christy Nockels

Christy Nockels is a fountain of wisdom. This is a podcast for those of you who are looking for a little bit of rest and grace in the midst of whatever your ordinary day looks like.

Favorites: Ellie Holcomb episode and then listen from the beginning because every episode is my favorite.

2. The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey

I listen every Wednesday because listening feels like a coffee date with a friend. The other day in conversation with a co-worker I was telling a story that started with "I was talking to a friend.." and then I realize that that "friend" was Jamie Ivey, and the conversation was between her and someone else on the podcast. I wish we were real life friends because she is pretty great.

Favorites: Sarah Harmeyer and Kristin Schell's episodes. They are the hospitality queens and my new idols.

3. Surviving Sarah with Sarah Bragg

Favorites: Shaunti Feldhahn's episode is all about understanding the brains of guys. I needed this. Brittany Price's episode made me ugly cry because she shares her beautiful story. Now I follow her on instagram and her insta stories are the best.

4. That Sounds Fun with Annie Downs

She is another person I wish I was friends with. Her laugh is the best.

Favorites: Liz Bohannon's episode is all bout community living! So great.

5. The Defender Podcast with Lifeline Children's Services

This is a super short 10-15 minute podcast that I listen to on the way to work every day. Herbie Newell the director of Lifeline talks about how we can all get involved in orphan care. He also tells some pretty epic stories. Check it out!

6. The Adoptive Mom Podcast with Alex Fittin

If you are interested in adoption or foster care, this one is for you!! It is so real, raw, and encouraging for those considering adoption or those who are in the thick of it.

Favorite: Sarah Avery is a super amazing birth mom who shares her story. So good.

Honorable mentions go to:

  • How I Built This

Ever wondered how different companies got started? The entrepreneur in me LOVES this podcast.

  • Invisibilia

I love the mental health side of this. The Episode called "Entanglement" is one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to. It's about how one city takes care of those with mental health struggles in a really unique way. The "emotions" series is also really interesting.

  • This American Life

Stories about real people doing real things. Very interesting and great production value.

  • The Road Back to You

This  podcast is great at dissecting different personality types! They talk about the Enneagram personality test and explain how people are wired.

The Enneagram is a personality test that I really like! CLICK HERE to take the test and CLICK HERE to learn more about each personality type. I am a "two" personality.

  • Sorta Awesome with Megan Tietz

These ladies are all about some girl talk. They talk about the latest fads and trends, and what they are loving!

  • Off Camera with Sam Jones

Down to earth interviews with celebrities. I love the Dax Shepard and Matt Damien episodes!

  • Pantsuit politics with Sarah Holland and Beth Silvers

One girl is super conservative, and one girl is super liberal. And they are best friends. And they talk about politics. It's a great way to learn a lot and hear out both sides of different issues!

So what about you? I would LOVE to hear what podcasts you are listening to and why. I also love all the mystery/ journalistic podcasts like "serial" and and "s-town" so any recommendations you have are more than welcomed.

Happy Wednesday!
